Lakes - an inland body of water. Florida has about 7,800 lakes over an acre in size. Most are solution lakes (formed when surface or ground water dissolves subsurface limestone). Others are relict lakes (sea bottom depressions) or were formed by erosion and sedimentation from rivers.
